A passionate supporter of disability rights and diversity issues, Phil is the country's best known disability speaker, renowned for his powerful, provocative yet humorous style. Phil has over 23 years working in equality issues and works on strategy and policy development at a senior level for government, blue chip companies and key disability and diversity organisations. He has worked on equality projects in Estonia, Romania, Poland, Germany, USA and Canada.
He was awarded an OBE in 2001 for services to equal opportunities and disabled people and an hononary degree Doctor of Science by University of Hertfordshire in 2009.
Phil is also very active with a number of voluntary organisations. He is Chair of RADAR, a trustee of Ricability and the GrassRoots Foundation and a member of several government advisory groups. He is an Associate of the Employers’ Forum of Disability, a Winston Churchill Fellow and a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts.
